In February of 2020, we lost the youngest member of our family, Lucas, to an asthma attack at 19 months old. While we navigated the weeks and months ahead, our daughter Ruth asked "What will we do with Lukie's Christmas Stocking"? It wasn't something we had thought about, but it definitely got things into motion.

In the Fall of 2020, we decided that the best way to honor Lucas and keep his memory alive was to give back to the community that rallied around us in our time of need. We also wanted to show Ruth & Ben that there was still hope, even in our darkest days.

Due to social distancing recommendations in 2020, we offered "drop off" times at our house and pick-up times at local offices and businesses. To help the kids see "where" these donations were coming from, we also created a "Kindness Tracker". We would mark the location of every donation or Random Act of Kindness that was completed in Lucas' memory.

The 1st "Fill Lukie's Stocking" food drive was completed with the help of family, friends, and local businesses. It surpassed any of our expectations. We were able to collect over 2,000 items for the Food Pantry, along with over $5,000.
